Be Patient..

Lebanese Outside Lebanon at the moment,
It is strongly not recommended to fly to LEBANON in the mean time. The only available way is via the jordanian airport.
I have been reading emails from friends saying that the following things are happening:
- Checking luggage is done not only at check points but also in the passenger area in the planes.
- Asking the passengenrs set of questions
- Checking the amount of money a passenger holds.
The above actions are done by some security forces (jordanian???) and of course under the demands of state of Israel. This might seem unreliable for some of you but some of these actions were reported in journals today.
It is better to wait for the first direct flight to Lebanon. It has been said that seige may be stopped by the end of this week.
Be patient ! We won't ask any body's permission to return to our country! This is our right..! We'll meet you soon .. there!

update: (in tomorrow's local newspaper)

jordan along with turkey have always been solid for israel in the region, even from nitanyahu's mouth. the historical rivalry between syria and jordan was a way for israel to keep jordan to its side. i even heard the nurses at the field hospitals they sent were all asking about HA and were basically out for information.

Hi , folks

>Be patient ! We won't ask any body's permission to return to our country! This is our right..! We'll meet you soon .. there!

-Of course , it is always good to return home , but pls. without weapons for Hizballa !

Mirvat ,

>jordan along with turkey have always been solid for israel in the region,

-I wish for Lebanon to "join the club". You will only benefit from that.

>even from nitanyahu's mouth.

-Where is the capital letter , my dear ...BTW, after the present govt. falls ,It's possible for mr. Benjamin Netanyahu to become the next PM. There are other possibile results , for example mr. Avigdor Liberman.

>Anyway the historical rivalry between syria and jordan was a way for israel to keep jordan to its side.

- The same must be said about Turkey , and ... Lebanon !
Here is the most suitable point to show that since 1994 Jordan and Israel have no territorial claims whatsoever !

>i even heard the nurses at the field hospitals they sent were all asking about HA and were basically out for information.

-No comment , BTW personal point : my wife is a delivery nurse( about 40% of her clients are Arab women )and although she doesn't speak Arabic , but she masters all phrases concerning her profession and she does it well.

And finally , because Turkey was mentioned and I like this country , especially Istanbul , it worth mention that Turkey has a big Shii community ( called Alevi ) . Also most population in Azerbaijan are Shii. Israel has good relations with those countries. Before Homeini we had good relations with Iran. Why not Lebanon !?

wishing peace , sala'am and shalom ,
Emil

emile,
Do not twist my words.
I didn't mention hizballah arms.
the letter was directed to Lebanese living abroad and willing to return to lebanon in the mean time.
Why r u "intruding" in this matter, have u been so "used" to intrude in other matters under the pretxt of "self defence"??

you'll always ask why not Lebanon?
have you selectively dismissed from your memory 22 years of occupation of lebanon?
also the second question is why do you expect us to forgive the occupation and the tyranny in palestine?
it's almost insulting that you ask.

Good afternoon to Hilal and Mirvat,

First of all I would like to state, that I never twist somebody's words.

It is my custom to quote somebody with the sign ">" and to answer "-". BTW I started to use digits 2, 3, 7 for Hebrew letters Aleph , Ayin and He , finding it very comfort. The credit is yours. So in Hilal's quote there is no mention of Hizballa , but there is one in my reaction.

So , after bringing in full Hilal's sentence , I posted my own reaction . In the sentence "Of course , it is always good to return home , but pls. without weapons for Hizballa !" I didn't recommend anybody whether to come back or not , but I did express the fear , that among repatriates may be people that will bring arms for Hizballa. This is the reason for the continuing blockade , and of course it's your right not to agree with that.

But the main reason for this answer is the reply of Mirvat ,which I quote here in full :

>emile

have you selectively dismissed from your memory 22 years of occupation of lebanon?
also the second question is why do you expect us to forgive the occupation and the tyranny in palestine?
it's almost insulting that you ask.

End of quotation.

No I don't want to Dismiss 22 years of occupation , but …
1. We occupied a significant part of Egypt for almost 15 years and fought 4 bloody wars. But we have a peace with Egypt which is cold , but stable.
2. We had 2 bloody wars with Jordan and had a lot of territorial problems , but the peace with Jordan is now a model for other Arab countries. Here is a place for 2 examples : a. Israeli citizens obtain a tourist visa at the border checkpoint ( no need to get a tourist visa in advance ). B. Jordanian citizens with valid Israeli visas can move freely in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) and the army has no right to delay them , only for a brief security check.
3. We annexed the Golan Heights , which we conquered from Syria in 1967 (almost 40 years) .But in 1996 peace with Syria was almost concluded Also there was a chance in 1999 .If you are interested , I'll send the info. For now , pls. check the post of a Lebanese women http://peacemiddleeast.blogspot.com/2006/08/our-nicest-neighbourthe-mediterranean.html , which I agree in full.

About the "tyranny in Palestine" etc. :

1. All the points above are relevant also in this issue.
2. What about Morocco , Qatar , Oman and Mauritania ? Those countries have diplomatic relations with Israel (although not full, but Israeli tourists and businessmen can get visas there). Not to mention muslim non-Arab nations .
3. The Palestinian national Authority itself signed about 5 interim agreements with Israel. Nobody has cancelled them formally from neither side. I'm also sure that with any Arab leader , other then Arafat (OK, mr. Arafat ) the permanent peace would has been achieved in 2000.

So my question after mentioning all those points is : Why , after the Cedar revolution , there is no possibility to sign at least interim agreement between Israel and Lebanon , let's business and tourism revive ( on both sides ) ? Does the refusal of Lebanon's visa to foreign tourists and businessmen , who visited Israel before , serve the interest of Lebanon to develop its business and tourism ?

All the problematic issues , which there are more of them , must be set on negotiations table for the permanent peace.

And please , dear Mirvat don't feel insulted .Should I apologize every time ???

Emil
