Peace Now

While shells are falling a few miles away from my home, I cannot but remember this afternoon, while I was driving back home from Beirut Hezbollah sympathizer where offering passerby cookies and candies!

While my ear rings from the sound of explosions I cannot but see the firecrackers Hezbollah sympathizer where launching this afternoon rejoicing in their “great victory”

And tomorrow when I will see the destroyed bridge linking my home town of Saida to Beirut, I will only say from the bottom of my heart: Enough! Enough wars, death and destruction! Curse you Hezbollah to hell and back! For all this destruction, for all this death! No it is not Israel fault! It is your own! Curse you!

We cannot continue on this path! People build and teach and try to live peacfully, while others think only of death, destruction and war… the time has come to stand and say one word: PEACE

I want peace with Israel! NOW! I do not care for your ideologies, or your lines drawn on maps! For your religions! For anything! PEACE NOW!

First of all who gave the right to Hezbollah to react!! God? I don’t accept them to lead my country to total destruction just to liberate one or two man in jail ( and do notice that the Lebanese prisoners have been tried and sentenced for crimes, not abducted and kidnapped!); you cannot hold a whole country hostage for just a few men!!!

Second Hezbollah reacted?? I m sorry they deliberately attacked Israel with no provocation! It is Israel who is reacting to Hezbollah’s aggressions (ironic ain’t it)
So spare me, I want peace I’m sick of shelling bombs and death. Come join me in Saida and we can hold a longer discussion about all of this and I m sure you will side by me!

How come this is seems to be the prevalant reaction here? With Isreal bombing the hell out of our country, and even France and Russia calling it a disproportionate act of war, how come everyone is denouncing Hizbollah and not Israel? As much as I am opposed to Hizbollah's fundamentalism (and any kind of fundamentalism), there is a tragic disproportion that Israel solely is responsible for. Their reaction is simply viscious, unjustified, inhumane...

"Bi tasarof ar3an men fakahmet ra2is el bilad el sayed hasan nasralah" we are in middle of a war , for releasing 3 kidnapers , more than 50 should be killed (till now 50) ? and our economics should be distroyed? what a complex situation, either Ainchtein cant solve this equation.

We are small country , all we want is live in peace , is it lot ? why it is forbidden to live without any pressure without any war.

Yesterday in his press conference hassan nasrallah told us to shut our mouth, and dont give the israely any execuse to do what she is doing now. If you are willing to hear a voice from the other side of the border I want to tell you some about My feelings as one who lives in Northern Israel.

The Israeli people although as you always show us in your media are not as blood thirsty as you draw us.

We are willing to live in peace with all of our neighbours and stop the war. This is true also for the palestinians although I don't want to get into this discussion right now.

I think that the Hizbullah is just standing in the way to peace between Israel and Leabnon. They are the last remains of the Syrian troops, and Iran is using them as a "Front line" in it's fundemental war against us.

I believe that there is no reason not to have peace between us as Israel has with Jordan and Egypt. Both societies in Israel and Lebanon are modern one with high educated people living in wealth.

In order to stop the current situation the Lebanese government should stop the terrorists acting from it's area. It is unreasonable that a free country with no border disagreements is not able to take control of it's area and borders!

The militants must be stopped! What happens now is that a small group of several hundred crazy people are dragging the whole area to war. It is hurting you, I don't know how you agree to accept them.

But this is also an oppertunity. From the Israeli side, first the two kidnapped soldiers must be returned to their country.
From the Lebanese side it is an oppertunity for you to get rid from the extremists which are the remains to the syria and iran control of Lebanon.

I agree with you, Arch. Although I'm bursting with anger because we have been dragged into this by hizbollah, but those are the israelis that are bombing us non-stop. when it comes to peace, whom, if faced with options of war and peace, wouldn't choose a peaceful environment to live in? but i wish it were that simple or idealistic.
Now I'm pretty sure that no one would have moved a muscle to free the lebanese rotting in prisons, but I don't understand why the whole country should make a sacrifice for these individuals, instead of these individuals making the sacrifice for a country. there.

As much as I'd like to believe what you said, that the Israeli people are not as blood thirsty as our media draws, at times like these all that flies out of the window. The Israeli government leaves no doubt to anyone that it is heartless in its reactions, ruthless and unfair.
The first Israeli person I met was here in the US at work. We became friends, but she returned soon thereafter to Israel with her son and husband. I still try to think of her before I let my anger go, but at times like these I can't. Israel's reaction is simply unjustified! Hizbullah kills soldier, Israel should kill Hizbullah militants; Hizbullah kidnaps soldiers, Israel should kidnap Hizbullah militants. But leave civilians and infrastructure alone!

At Thursday, July 13, 2006 5:50:00 PM, Blogger amiril said...

I agree that no civilians should be hurt. As a former soldier in the IDF I can tell you that this is our most basic commandment. Again, I will not blame you if you don't beleive me but this is the truth.

In the current situation what happens is that If Lebanon can not control it's own area, there is no other way to see it as a war decleration, and Israel react the same.

Bombing bridges, airports and so on is just a small step than what any other country would do if it was attacked the same! Can you imagine the French reaction if Paris was bombard with missiles from Belgium?! If the US soldiers on the Mexico border would have been kidnapped?

Lebanon should take responsibility to all the things happen from it's borders. As plain as that.

I agree with arch.memory. Lebanon is technically still at was with Israel, and Israel has deon nothign tangible to stop the war. Therefore, Hizbullah attacking soldiers is somewhat understandable (not that I say it should be done).

Israel's response was over-the-top. Attacking civilian areas is ridiculous, and, yes, bloodthirsty.

If Israel wanted peace, it would listend to UN condemnations of its actions. Everyone's always harping on UN Resolutions about Lebanon. Why should Israel be exempt.

Israel acts like a spoilt brat on a playground of orphans, not like a nation among nations.

It's ok, you can disagree with me :) I'm not under-estimating these individuals, but I hope that what is happening right now is not "terbeeh jmileh" for what they had done years ago. the price paid is too high (most importantly dozens of dead people), and I'd presume a nationalist Samir Kintar wouldn't want his whole country ruined in this way. Seek other ways that don't include the country's sole airport being destroyed like that. that's my opinion (Is there at least another Hariri in mind to handle the reconstruction?). That being said, we're dragged into this now. So, defending Lebanon's side against the attacks becomes a must.

Bob, I honestly can't tell you how touched I am by your post. I tend to be of the impression that Middle Easterners who support Israel today are generally doing so because of the ruin that Hizballah is bringing on to Lebanon rather than out of an understanding that Israel was attacked without provocation and out of a true desire to have real peace with Israel. Your post though makes it abundantly clear that you're a human being just like we are and that you truly just want to have peace. I'm honestly impressed as hell, touched and humbled.

Also Bob, it appears that you already know this, but I'm sure that it doesn't hurt my repeating. Please believe me when I say that Jews simply want to be able to live in peace and quiet. We don't want to be in Lebanon at all and we never wanted to be there. We only entered the first time after having been attacked by terrorists stationed there and the same is true now. We honestly want peace so goddamned badly that we'll do almost anything for it.

We gave away the oil-rich Sinai TWICE. Despite having been attacked from it without any provocation. We offered Arafat WHATEVER HE WANTED. Despite his being an evil torturer and murderer of the worst kind and our having gotten territory that (we believed) was rightfully ours and (all agree) was used as a stage to attack us without any cause.

We honestly just want to be left alone and to leve others alone. And I'm deeply touched and feeling quite hopeful in seeing these same sentiments in you.

Wishing you only good,

You know blame whoever you want I do not care, while bombs are falling around me who started it? tit for tate? I can only ask why? Because two Lebanese guys who 30 years ago killed a whole family because they were Israeli! (Check what Samir Quiantar did)

Why I blame Hezbollah? Well because Israeli did not bomb my town until those murders kidnapped two soldiers? Why I blame Hezbollah?

Why? Tell me why?
You want to free Palestine? I do not? What do you want me to say? They have a government, freely elected. They choose what they want. Why must I hate some Israeli soldiers? He was born in his country like me he did not do anything. Yo want to blame someone go and find his long dead grandfather!. Why should I blame him for the supposed sins of his ancestors?

It is time to stand up. Call for peace with Israel! PEACE NOW!

Why do you disagree with me Hilal. You are living in a save and peaceful country? Why do you ask me to fight and bleed and lose my loved one? You want to fight Israel then come and do it! Do not ask me to stand and hold still while my town is becoming an isolated island! DO not ask me to praise some bloodthirsty Hezbollah fighters! Hell no! I will stand and call for peace and blame Hezbollah for all this! Look at Egypt! Look at Jordan! Did Israel attack them! Why must I bear the brunt of Israel reaction? Just because Hezbollah want the release two prisoners? How can you stand by them I call for peace and I mean it! Why should I hate Israel more than Hezbollah? Why shouldn’t I call for peace?

Finally, we should stand up and call for peace! And not stand by Hezbollah! The way to defend Lebanon is not by standing with them, it is with calling for a cease fire and the return of the two soldiers! The one who start bear the responsibility of the whole situation!

My thoughts are with all civilians on both sides of the borders! Israelis and Lebanese! May you all be save! And may all those who call for destruction and death bear the consequences of their own actions!

It's good to hear some moderate voices on this blog...both sides of the border....

Hizbulla fucked up big this time....We all saw this coming..atleast 14 march did!

However let's not forget which side of the border we are living.
Truth is: If Israel cannot control Hizbulla...how do they expect the Lebanese government to do it?!! Civil WAR?!!

I've been reading some of the comments on jerusalem post www.jpost.com...and guys believe me Israelis hate our guts...and lots of europeans and americans hate muslims to the bone...and sympathize with Israel.

While some people separate between Hizbolla and the other lebanese... the majority don't.

Here are some quotes:

"Southern Lebanon needs to be a free fire zone, to the depth of the range of the rockets. Damascus may need occupation soon ...."

"Now that Israel was attacked HIzbollah its time to turn Lebanon into Gaza. Instead of targeting empty runways, bridges and buildings, go after the terrorist leaders and plunge Lebanon into darkness by destroying their infrastructure"

"To the ignorant Hamas, PLO, and Hezbollah, I leave you with the acronym BOHICA, Bend Over Here It Comes Again."

"Wars end when civilian populations suffer to the point of pressuring the governments for surrender. I say hell with them. Bomb them back to the stone age. No lights, no water, no food, fuck em. "

"If the IDF were to ask Jews to come to Israel and fight, I'd leave my life in the U.S. in a second to go."

"It's time to bomb Lebanon and Syria back to the stone age...RIGHT NOW! They've never gotten that far out of it anyway. Hopefully the idiotic Israeli government will figure out that the only way to fight these killers is to give them a dose of their own medicine. Civilian or military, KILL 'EM ALL, and let God sort 'em out. "

Go read some and enlighten yourselves...

So...for the time being...all we can do as Lebanese (with lots of differences) is to UNITE!!!

The way i see it, if Israel goes all the way...it will be the end of hizbulla...and maybe Lebanon... my heart goes to the poor civilians.

I'm an American, I DO support Israel, and I must admit that I'm not fan of Islamists or their apologist however I know there is a clear distinction between the Lebanese and Hezbollah.
Hezbollah brought this on themselves and should have no sympathy given toward them. Why do the Lebanese even allow an armed independent group with thousands of missiles sit on their soil and commit acts toward a neighboring state? What does that show the world?
Either that the people and government of that state are in league with such a group or they have no control over their state.
I believe Israel will probably use ground forces in a full scale assault within the coming day to break Hezbollah as completely as they can. I hope you people of Lebanon stay safe and I wish you no ill will, but what other nation would not do the same if in Isreal's situation?
Lebanon probably has just as many blood ties to the US as Israel. The US supported Lebanon in pushing out the Syrians. Now if the Lebanese truly care for the sake of their state then you should have the strength to tell Hezbollah to pack their bags and leave or disarm. I would say they have worn out their welcome.

May God protect you and all our brothers and sisters back home.

No one wants to see Lebanon destroyed AGAIN, no matter who is at fault, no matter who we want to blame and hate. They are both evil and stubborn forces, along with some behind-the-scenes forces.
Bottom line: Lebanon and Lebanese civilians are bombarded AGAIN. For that I stand by Bob asking and shouting for PEACE. Heck, in this case I want peace with 3ezrayil (the devil) not only Israel.

Since Israel and the world seem to think we have one, we should turn our voice and demand for peace toward our dear government who don't seem to be working for that in any way, shape or form. While the hot-shots are busy blaming each others for the lack of unity and understanding, the only party allowed to carry weapons goes and plays in the neighbours' backyard, provoking the big ugly dog who came running after them stepping everywhere we worked hard to plant and build.. Can we really blame the dog?

((to the Israeli readers of the blog, my comments are adressed to the government, not the people)

It is ironic how a few days ago, the world witnessed how Zidane attacked Materazzi, and now we're living the exact same thing on a bigger and much more serious scale. Provocation and a harsher attack.. it happens everywhere, but in some cases, it is DEADLY.

I am an American Jew and a Zionist. I pray tonight for both the soldiers of the IDF, and the people of Lebanon. Most of us know that you are being screwed by Hizbullah, and we want you to be free from Syria almost as much as you do.

It's as you say. Most people want peace. Israel has no territorial claim on Lebanon, and occupies no territory in Lebanon. There is nothing between us that would stand in the way of peace, if only the Syrians and their thugs were dealt with.

Of course people like xylocaine can look at forums and find people who say disgusting things. We're on the internet, right? The dumbest 10% are the loudest here, on all sides. It's very easy for idiots to beat their chests when sitting across the world from where the bullets are flying.

Ever since I saw pictures of Lebanon, I have dreamed of visiting Beirut and sitting in a coffeeshop with Lebanese. This dream is out of reach for now; there is still too much bad blood between us. But maybe someday, once you take back your country, there can be peace.

Stay safe. Pray that Israel's bombs land on the right people, and not on the innocent. Hizbullah needs to be dealt with, and I wish to God that Lebanon wasn't caught up in the middle of it.

To those of you in Lebanon who pray for peace and a swift, amicable solution to the current war, I pray for you and hope that God blesses you.

For those who have constantly inflamed the war and the tensions with Israel, may you burn in Hell. It is not my place to judge your final resting place, but that is how I feel about those who constantly drag innocents in as their shields. They surround themselves with women and children and show off their guns and rocket launchers. That is so sick and cowardly that it makes me retch.

Keep in mind that in this conflict Hizbollah probably did not act on its own initiative, but upon the orders of Iran. To Iran and the dictators there Lebanon is nothing but a border province whose blood can be spilled without remorse by Hizbollah's puppet masters. And all of this was done so that Iran could forstall its day of judgement before the United Nations.

Peace has been offered again and again by Israel. If you want a peaceful future and if you value the lives of your children and your family, then now is the time to drive the demons from your midst and actually work for peace.

God be with you all.

From what I see, lebanese let Hizbullah decide when and where start a war with Israel.
Now, please, don't say "It's not my fault", because it is.

You need to distance yourselves from Hizbullah with more than words: by deeds.

1) Sign a Peace Treaty with Israel.
2) Declare anyone that attack Israel from Lebanon a enemy of Lebanon
3) Tell Hizbullah to give up their weapons to the Lebanon Army or to IDF and disband the militia.
4) If they don't obey, start treating them as enemy (deny passages, shoot them and go after them).

In the Gospel is written:

Matthew 18:9 (New International Version)

9And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.

They mistake love and care for weakness and stupidity.

But, we fear war only because we know what a REAL war is.

1)Lebanon must not allow itself to be used as a tool for outside powers - Israel, Iran, Syria, US or France.
2)Hizbollah's forces must either be disarmed or brought under the control of the sovereign Lebanese government.

Some of the Muslim countries are awash in wealth, but they do not give these poor people any help at all...they appear to be using the Palestinians as pawns...to keep them oppressed and poor and angry...at Israel. This way (it least it appears to me and many Americans), the radical Muslims can continue to provoke Israel.
Many Americans are very aware that the Lebanese people are powerless against the Hizbollah...that they have been bullied and tormented by them for years...we understand that Hizbollah acts by directive from Iran and Syria. I cannot begin to even understand all the complexities and fear that define this situation, but I wanted to ask my question above...and to let the people of both Israel and Lebanon know that there are many Christians praying for your safety and your release from fear.

it is not as fox shows neither as cnn.
you have to return t the roots of the problems.
saying that iran and syria are the bad guys is one side .. extremism in israelian and american goverments and election of mr. bush and their acts in middle east gave rise to other extremists on the other side..
it is too compex.. u gotta go into details.

This isn't a requirement for anyone. You won't be judged if you decide not to try it...or if you think I'm crazy.

Friends, consider this for the progress you want.

First, empty your heart of what you feel.

Then take the time to truly measure the shell of yourself. Are there fences or walls? Were they built by you, or did you let someone build them for you?

Third, honor what stirs in the eyes of your enemy. Doing otherwise is offensive. Rage is a boomerang. Try not to throw it.

Finally, become a child for one day. It's ok. I'll laugh with you. All of us can ask questions, draw pictures, listen, and learn.

It will be beautiful.

And please stay safe, the world needs you.

Sorry, I understand some of you are blaming hezballah and you think hezballah is the enemy but you know what, when you are in the south of Lebanon you feel israelis presence much more, and the way they disturb Lubnan, from Saiida and on all of a sudden theres electricity all day long night light life is good....go down to the south where electricity cuts every 10 hours and you have to sleep with the sounds of motors everyday....and then go deeper south and watch the nightskies light up some nights because of the shebaa farms....tell me one thing did Lebanon not remove israel? is it not true that israel does not occupy lebanon? THEN WHAT ARE THEY DOING IN SHEBAA FARMS the most pointless smallest blown up piece of land...they are just disturbing us all day long from there...and remember one important thing IF IT WERENT FOR ISRAEL THERE WOULD BE NO HEZBALLAH THERE...yes they did capture the 2 soldiers and thats why the bombs started but are you telling me Israel is right to retaliate in the way they did? are you telling me its right that they are blowing up a bomb right next your house? are you telling me its right that they are blowing up friends, family? What i tell you was this war was expected by Israel and they have just been waiting for it, it doesnt come as a surprise to me...Aghanistan and Iraq surround IRan...Saudi and Turkey from above and under and ass kissers of the EU and US...Israel is located next Palestine Lebanon and Syria...iraq is also connected to syria...AMerican troops in iraq and afghanistan..seems like a little game of risk to me...and to ANN according to the news there are a 170 of us dead and about 8 of you....so i dont think your feeling half the scared that we are, our families arent together some are in the south some are in the north some are in beitur, we cant call them, we have no way out except to wait, and when the evacuee ships come and take other people we just watch them and wish it was us and our whole family and friends entering that cruise ship.
PS 313 of the prisoners in Israel are under the age of 18, 96 are woman.

Maybe these blogs will help spread the word behind politicians...nobody wants war-not here, not in Lebanon, not anywhere. No one wants to have missiles & rockets land in his living room in Haifa, no one wants to have a bomb dropped from a plane on his building, park, school in Beirut..
Many poeple are suffering here as well! And many people are confused by Israel's attacks on Lebanon, which don't seem to stop the Hezbollah attacks and only cause death & destruction.
To the people saying here that there should never be peace with Israel-good luck living in the world you have in mind. Even if you chose to hate, wouldn't it be better to do so at peace?
Lets hope this ends very soon.

Samir Kintar, Israel's longest held Lebanese prisoner who has been incarcerated in Israeli jail for the past 30 years. In fact the Hezbollah operation last year in which 2 Israeli soldiers were kidnapped, which sparked the 34 day long war, was meant to use the 2 soldiers as bargaining chips in order to force Israel to release Samir Kintar.

(Samir Kintar; also spelled: Sameer Kuntar, Kantar, Qantar, Kintar, Quntar, Qintar, Cantar)

Samir Kintar
سمير القنطار‎

On July 12, 2006 Lebanese Hezbollah militants crossed the border with Israel in an operation dubbed "Operation Truthful Promise," which was aimed at nabbing Israeli soldiers in exchange for Lebanese prisoners. Hezbollah succeeded in the operation and successfully took hostage two Israeli soldiers, Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser. During the operation, eight Israeli soldiers were killed. This ignited the sequence of events which led to the Israel/Lebanon summer war.

The story goes further back than July of 2006. It really began in April 1979! On Sabbath day, April 22, 1979, Danny and Smadar Haran met up with a monster named Samir Kintar.

Danny and Smadar were a loving Israeli couple. They had everything they could ever hope for... love, marriage and two precious daughters, Einat, 4 and Yael, 2. That day Smadar was home anticipating Danny's return from work and preparing for the Sabbath. She had just picked up their two toddlers from day care. Danny, on the other hand, was looking forward to nothing more than getting home and spending time with his wife and his two young daughters.

Traditionally, the Sabbath is the most special day of the week, the day the family gets to spend time together and celebrate their bond to Judaism. It was especially important for Danny who, as a young father, had to work extra hard in order to provide for his wife and young children. Little did Smadar know that this would be the last Sabbath she would celebrate with her family because of a man named Samir Kintar. Around midnight the nightmare began!

Who is Samir Kintar?

Samir Kintar is one of three Lebanese prisoners still serving time in Israeli jails. Kintar, a Lebanese Druze born on July 20, 1962 in the Lebanese mountain village of Aabey currently holds the dubious distinction of being the longest held Lebanese prisoner in Israeli jails! He was a member of Abu Abbas' notorious PLF (Palestine Liberation Front) which committed despicable acts of terror against Israeli, Jewish, and American targets worldwide throughout the 1970's and 1980's. Kintar was convicted and sentenced to a 534 years prison sentence by the state of Israel. Israel even almost tried to pass a bill to have him executed! What did he do? What was his crime?

The Nasser Operation

The crime he committed was the most horrific crime ever committed on Israeli soil! On April 22, 1979 Samir Kintar along with a gang of three other PLF terrorists (Abed Majeed Asslan, Ahmed Al-Abras, and Mhanna Salim Al- Muyaed) departed from the southern Lebanese seashore city of Tyre on a 55-horsepowered rubber motor boat. Their destination was the Israeli coastal city of Naharyia, about 10 km south of the Lebanese border, the target of their operation was a residential apartment building. This operation was dubbed "Nasser Operation" and its aim was the killing and terrorizing of Israel's Jewish civilians.

The terrorists made landfall in the Israeli coastal city of Naharyia at around midnight, undetected under the cover of darkness. As they made their way along the shore, they were intercepted by an Israeli police officer whom they shot dead. In Naharya the terrorists broke into a building as other Israeli police officers arrived on the scene. The terrorists then broke into Danny and Smadar Haran's apartment, fired their weapons and threw grenades. Smadar managed to find a crawl space into which she, her younger daughter, 2 year old Yael, and a neighbor all hid. To prevent Yael from crying and giving away their hiding place, Smadar covered the child's mouth with her hand.

According to Smadar "They held Danny and Einat while they searched for me and Yael, knowing there were more people in the apartment. I will never forget the joy and the hatred in their voices as they swaggered about hunting for us, firing their guns and throwing grenades. I knew that if Yael cried out, the terrorists would toss a grenade into the crawl space and we would be killed. So I kept my hand over her mouth, hoping she could breathe. As I lay there, I remembered my mother telling me how she had hidden from the Nazis during the Holocaust. 'This is just like what happened to my mother,' I thought."

Sadly, Smadar's attempt to muffle her daughter's whimpering proved fatal. Yael was accidentally suffocated and died within the hiding space.

According to Smadar Haran, her last memories of Danny and Einat, that day, were when they were being led away at gun point by Kintar. She could hear from her closet space Danny telling Einat, "Don't be scared, my baby, it will be alright" and Einat replied to him in her little voice, "Dad, where is Mommy? I want Mommy." Smadar's last memory of her 2-year-old daughter, Yael, was when her little daughter was taken to the apartment hiding space. Right before Yael had her mouth covered by her mother, she asked her mother "Where is my little pacifier." There was no time to search for the pacifier. Minutes later Smadar covered Yael's mouth to keep her from revealing the hiding space. Smadar soon felt her daughter's tiny tongue licks and lip sucking on the palm of her hand. She didn't know what to make of it at first but hours later was told by doctors and paramedics that the reason Yael was licking her palm while she covered her mouth was because she was gasping for air.

After taking Danny and four-year old Einat hostage, Kintar and his group took them down to the beach. Samir Kintar quickly shot Danny in the back and then drowned him in the Mediterranean Sea to ensure his death. While Kintar drowned Danny, he forced terrified Einat to watch and cry. According to eyewitnesses, "Danny was murdered in front of Einat so that his death would be the last sight she would ever see." Little Einat would not have that horrible memory in her head for long. Kintar, the brave Lebanese freedom fighter, crushed Einat's skull over and over upon the rocks with the butt of his rifle until she was dead.

During the ensuing shootout between Kintar's terror group and Israeli police, two policeman were killed along with two of the Arab terrorists. Kintar and the fourth participant, Ahmed Al-Abrass, were captured. Ahmed Al-Abrass was later free by the Israeli authorities in the infamous May 1985 Ahmed Jibril prisoner exchange deal in which 1,150 Arab prisoners (some of whom had blood on their hands) were exchanged for three Israeli soldiers. Kintar was not included in the deal.

The Israeli government determined at first to make a decision to execute Kintar, for his horrific crime, especially for the fact that he tortured and beat to death the 4-year old toddler. Israeli Prime Minister at that time, Menachem Beagin , proposed a draft resolution to the Security and Foreign Affairs Committee in the Israeli Keenest on April 24, 1979. He demanded to eliminate a previous resolution stipulated by the Israeli cabinet, which said no execution should be implemented against terrorists as the international law prohibits it. The Israeli Foreign Minister Izer Weizman and Transportation Minister Hayeem Landau supported Beagin’s draft resolution. Abraham Sharer, who was the head of the Likude parliamentary bloc also, called for Kintar’s execution. Isaac Shamir issued a statement on April 25, 1979 also calling for his execution.

The Israelis tried to implement the execution sentence on Samir Kintar and the whole parliament agreed on them. The only dilemma they were having was the Israeli law that doesn’t allow execution except for the Nazis of the World War II and to those found guilty of betrayal to their country. Furthermore, they did not want the international community on their backs; also, they wanted to improve their relationship with Egypt after the peace process. As a consequence, the Israeli central court in Haifa sentenced Kintar to 5 life sentences plus 47 years to come up with the total of 542 years. During the trial, Kintar was waving victory signs, and called himself a hero.

Samir Kintar has confessed proudly to his murder of the little girl and never once showed one ounce of remorse for his crime. Even while serving his prison term, he has bragged repeatedly during interviews about how proud he was for murdering the 4-year-old Israeli child. While in prison Kintar got married and even receives conjugal visits. Below he stands proudly alongside other convicted Arab murderer, Marwan Barghouti.

Several months later, the PLF seized the Achille Lauro, an Italian cruise ship, and demanded that Israel release Kintar along with a list of 50 other Palestinian prisoners. Ironically out of the 50 Arab Palestinian prisoners that were demanded, Kintar was the ONLY one that was "actually" named on that list. The hijackers killed a wheelchair-bound American Jewish passenger, Leon Klinghoffer, and threw him overboard into the Mediterranean Sea. Kintar was not released, but his supporters would not give up. In 2004 Israel release ALL Lebanese prisoners except for Kintar and two other Lebanese (Nissim Nasser and Yehya Sakaf). In fact Kintar, as well, was almost released by Israel during that infamous Israel Hezbollah Prisoner Exchange of 2004, BUT in the last second Hezbollah violated the agreement and Kintar remained behind bars!

War: July 12, 2006

On July 12, 2006 per orders of Hezbollah leader, Sheik Hasssan Nasrallah, Hezbollah terrorists crossed the northern Israeli border. They attacked two Israeli military vehicles with anti tank missiles, killed four soldiers, kidnapped two others and demanded the immediate unconditional release of Samir Kintar in exchange for the two abducted soldiers. Hezbollah originally named this operation "Operation Freedom for Samir Al-Kintar," but on the days leading up to the July 12 attack it was shortened to "Operation Truthful Promise." The latter referred to the "true promise" Nasrallah had made to the Kintar family that the cross-border kidnapping of IDF soldiers to force the release of Samir Kintar.
In subsequent interviews on Al-Manar TV station Dr Mohamad Jawad Khalifeh, the Lebanese Minster of Health, congratulated Hezbollah for "its great actions" and said that "Lebanon has the right to regain its prisoners and liberate them." Ali Ammar, an Hezbollah member of the Lebanese Parliament, stated his opinion that "particularly at this basic stage in the history of the homeland and the nation, this government should have expressed solidarity with its people and let Samir Quntar feel that he is a Lebanese par excellence." After the kidnapping, Samir Kintar’s brother, Bassam Kintar, said "I kiss the hands and foreheads of the warriors who executed the kidnap. I imagine Samir at the moment, with happiness raising his spirits and those of his friends," he said.

As expected, the Israeli government was not interested in negotiating with terrorists. They sent a small number of troops into southern Lebanon in an attempt to quickly find and free their two soldiers. Soon Hezbollah began shelling Israel's northern communities with Katuysha rockets in an attempt to kill as many innocent men, women and children as possible and to pressure the Israeli government to take the prisoner exchange demand. Israel had no choice but to escalate their response. Both Hezbollah, their supporters and Lebanon's civil infrastructure all suffered the consequences. Even though Israel defeated Hezbollah during this war, it still didn't manage to get its soldiers back.

During the fighting Israel captured a Hezbollah terrorist by the name of Ali Hassan Saliman. According to Saliman, in the interviews/interrogations following his capture, he said that “the main objective of Hezbollah's corss-border kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers was to secure the release of Samir Kintar.” Also, that “Nasrallah had made a promise to the Kintar family that Samir would be released. The Hezbollah operation was first and foremost aimed at releasing Kintar. Everything else was secondary.”

Israel's track record of going against it's previous policy of not releasing Arab prisoners with blood on their hands in exchange for IDF soldiers has come home to roost. Arab terrorist groups have been encouraged to kidnap Israelis in the hope (and often the expectation) that these soldiers will become bargaining chips for the release of Arab prisoners. This softening of Israel's formerly strict policy of never negotiating with terrorists has merely added fuel to the fire. Israeli soldiers are supposed to protect the children of Israel, not to facilitate the release of child murderers, such as the monster, Samir Kintar.

Neither Israelis individually nor their military intentionally targets children or any non-combatant, for that matter. When children die, it is nearly always because they are caught in the crossfire or when they are "set up" by their fellow Arab-terrorists to score propaganda points. But NEVER would manner of the killing be so pre-planned nor would the act itself be so glorified, such as that as Samir Kintar.

Smadar Haran has since remarried and is raising a new family. She hopes that Samir Kintar will stay behind bars until his dying day. "I don't believe that the terrorist will be released now, and I don't believe that the Israeli government will accept this request, after it promised not to release terrorists with blood on their hands."

We at SamirKuntar.net concur with Smadar Haran. We will do whatever we can to see that Samir Kintar rots in Israeli prisons. We would also urge the Israeli government and courts to reverse the long-standing policy of not allowing for the administration of the death sentence. After all, Samir Kintar and other Samir Kintars like him never thought twice about administrating the death sentence to little Einat Haran and other Einat Harans just like her!

Kintar was not the reason Israel chose to go to war with Lebanon but he was the reason Hezbollah kidnapped the two soldiers which set the war process in motion.

Neither Israel nor Hezbollah doubt that Kintar murdered Danny and Einat Haran. The only difference is that Israel sees him as the cold-blooded murderer he is. Hezbollah and their supporters glorify him as a freedom fighter and hero!

There is another point worth mentioning. Hezbollah has never claimed that Kintar was innocent or that he may have been framed. They only demand his release as if he were being held unlawfully and that Israel had no right to imprison him. Once again it's all about Israel never doing any right and Arabs incapable of doing any wrong!

After drowning Danny in the sea in front of little Einat, Kintar, the brave Lebanese freedom fighter, then turned his attention towards the frightened little 4-year old. He took his rifle and then swung it across the little toddler's head, knocking her to the ground. As little Einat was knocked to the ground, she was screaming and crying hysterically "mommy daddy help me," while thrashing her little legs around in the sand. But unfortunately Einat was alone, and no one was there to save her. Kintar then dragged the little toddler a couple of feet to the closest rock he could find, this was while she was begging him not to hurt her. Kintar, then laid her head down on a rock, with the intention of crushing it with the butt of his rifle. Einat, instinctively covered her head with her little arms, Kintar struggled with the little toddler until he finally managed to clear her arms out of the way so that he could aim for the head, and then he proceeded on beating her over and over with the butt of his rifle until blood rushed out of her ears and her little cries faded away as she was knocked into unconsciousness. Then, to ensure she was dead, Kintar continued on beating her over the head, as hard as he could, several more times until her skull was crushed and she was dead.

SHORT NOTE: The way Kintar killed little Einat is reminiscent to the way the Nazis used to kill Jewish babies during the Holocaust, by crushing their little heads with their boots or with the butts of their rifles!

Last night the Israeli government failed to sportsbook extend its ban on new settlement construction in the West Bank. This is bad news. Israelis and Palestinians are negotiating over the future of the West Bank. Renewed settlement construction sends a bet nfl dangerous message about Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's commitment to peace talks.

The crisis in the media industry has been most acutely felt in the decline of international coverage. Major dominical costa rica tours
newspapers and TV networks have closed foreign bureaus, major news media are relying solely on wire reports for international coverage, and airtime devoted to global affairs has declined significantly. Nine years after the 9/11 attacks, with two wars that the US is fighting overseas, America's news organizations have diminished rather than enhanced their international reporting infrastructure.
