In crisis, Unite

So, here we are. At the cusp, staring into the abyss. What choice will be made? It appears to me that most of the infrastructure has been destroyed and will take years to rebuild. The infrastructure serving 4 million odd Lebanese. This collective punishment is the most dishonorable way to undertake their war. There are untold consequences for wreaking their revenge upon millions of innocent people. We are entering unchartered waters. Not to mention the hundreds of innocent dead and wounded on both sides. The innocent are our true treasure. Sowing hatred in the new generation seems to be an objective. What a waste! What a shame! Shame on you! Shame on you all! Shame on all of you who carry out and sanction violence. The assymmetry which prevails in all actions Israeli, is lunacy.

It's clear to say that one the objectives of collective punishment seems to be to drive a wedge between Lebanese. If Lebanon wishes to be colonized again by Israel of all countries, then the splintering of loyalties are truly a part of the overall US/Israeli strategy to divide in conquer in the region. I've said before on many occasions I'm no fan of Hizbullah. I still am not fond of them for sparking this situation. Giving Israel the excuse to launch a cowardly attack on all Lebanese is not the brightest idea. But faced with such a situation, Lebanese have no choice but to unite. Unless we wish for the ugliest days of the civil war to return, we must help one another to get through such a difficult time.

This blog was created in a time of crisis to help unite Lebanese with one another online to see the exit of Syria and their influence. And now, it must be used to unite in outrage at the wholesale destruction of Lebanon. I urge all of you to maintain your composure and continuing expressing yourselves in the most honest way possible. We have an important part to play in seeing peace return again.

My heart goes out to all the families of the injured and dead. We will not forget what shame and regret has been brought upon the Lebanese family this fateful summer.

So, in crisis, UNITE.
We cannot let this go on any longer.
We cannot be manipulated any more than we already have.
So, please unite.

Peace and grace,
Liminal

THANK YOU THANK YOU TAHNK YOU. The Lebanese government announced just now that it's army would be joining with Hizballah virtually labeling Lebanon as a whole as an enemy to Israel. Now what I said would happen will in fact go into play. I wish all the Lebanese the best of luck, because you have just began a war with the most dangerous country in the world, and now all bets are off. You thought civilian casualties were bad up to now? Now anything goes as far as the Israeli army is concerned, you are about to feel Israeli power in action.

Yes, I agree. In fact, I hope you literally unite, it's much easier for 25 tons to kill 100,000 united people, than 100,000 people spread out. UNITE UNITE, faster, please!

Although I don't condone what hezbollah did to start this, the reaction from Israel is totally unproportional. My heart goes out to the hundreds of innocent victims. I've seen the photo's and video's, the world has seen them, children blown to pieces for nothing but being in the wrong place at the wrong time. For Israel to destroy the infrastructure of Lebanon, trapping citizens from around the world will backfire onto themselves. My prayers are with you, Lebanon, and may God forgive the Israeli's, for they know not what they do.

"Unite" sounds good. But Kamal illustrates the real question: unite with Hezbollah or against it?

Uh, that's only a question if suicide is in the picture. To unite with hizballah would alternatively be suicide for anyone who decided to do this. If the entire Lebanese population of 4 million united, you think the attack would be like it is now? The casualty numbers this low? Think about that one, what the Lebanese army is doing now is causing Israel to unleash more force, more power, more deaths on Lebanon's part. Stupid move, and the only chance Lebanon has is to drive Hizballah out themselves before it's too late.

Obviously, it's up to you who will get your sympathy. But you must know to be repsonsible for this choice.
If you choose to show solidarity with a terrorist group that bombs north Israel, don't expect the world to save you when Israel is shooting back.
If you allow terrorists to hide their rockets and explosives in a civil area, don't complain that innocent civilians are getting killed.

I am an Israeli, as you probalby guessed. I can assure you that Israel government and people have nothing against the Lebanese people. All we ask for is to live in peace. Since Israel pulled out from Lebanon, 6 years ago, not a single Lebanese got hurt. Israel did a great effort to ignore Hizballa provocations: Soldiers were kidnapped , Israeli villages were bombed , Israli army posts were under attack. And until now Israel did nothing because it didn't want to escalate the situation. Unfortunatley, Mr. Nasralla chose to interpret this as weankess, and initiated the last stupid attack.
Israel had no other choice but protect itself.

Ami you speak the truth but what you speak is only the tip of the iceberg. Lebanon's problems go much deeper then that. Read these blogs if you choose to, there are people even on her under garbage propaganda from hizballah and lebanese TV. If you attempt to change their views they will shoo you off as being the one who is under propaganda. But you said it the best, they hit and hit and hit, and one day the kid who was bullied walked in and splattered the bullies head all over the wall. Now the bully's parents are outraged, the school can't believe it, but where was the school to do something when the kid was being bullied?

I am glad to read this group is coming together as Lebonese, I only hope its for real freedom.
We all know what Isreal is doing.

UNITE is not a bad word, but you can be assured the world is watching who will Lebonon Unite with?
You in this forum have the intellect to share your common group thoughts with your community and leadership, with impoverished to the rich.

As the group watch you can be sure Damascus and Tehran are watching too.

splintering in your communities to follow hezzbeloh will embolden them wouldnt it. They would feel well to march right back in, with you holding the door open to them.

I hope UNITE is a rally cry for those who pushed the syrian military out to do what you know would be best for your own soverignty.

with admiration, Blessings,
Enriqueta

If the Lebanese unite to support Hezbollah, which has explicity stated it is at war with Israel, then Lebanon is at war with Israel. Not just a country with a weak government who cannot control terrorists in their midst - which is the reason Lebanon elicits sympathy in the West - but an active belligerent subject to having its entire infrastructure and government attacked. Ostensible "civilians" who hide fighters or aid in battle, become fair targets. While the West prefers to avoid civilian casualties, when a belligerent uses civilians as shields, there is no law of war that says the other side must forego destroying a military target because the other side has hidden it in a mosque, hospital or school. Military targets are fair game, period. That includes your roads and bridges - all of them - and your power stations, ports, everything.

If Lebanon and the Lebanese openly side with Hezbollah, Lebanon will be destroyed with Hezbollah, and no one in the West will stop it. Oh, we'll be very sad at the loss of life and the destruction of what was a beautiful country, but if that's the only way to stop the attacks on Israel once for all, then 'twould be well that it were done, and done quickly.

I beseech you, (as Cromwell said) consider that you may be mistaken. Worse, that you're backing a losing horse in a very deadly game.

Quoted for truth, but the problem is, as I agree and have echoed what you have said 100% in the last week or so, many of these people, including on these forums, are under serious propaganda, probably the same shit that was fed to them for years. You, I, and anyone else who tries, will not break this. Hizballah has penetrated their heads with garbage via every media form. On the other hand you are just a voice on the Internet, and although you are 100% right, your voice is very low.

The death of innocents will never be honorable. Those responsible will be judged, for there is a pendulum in all life, though it may swing in one way now, as sure as night follows day, it soon will swing in opposition.

Yes, but perhaps not the way you're thinking. In unity with Hizballah, you're destined to get your asses kicked and become just another Islamist hellhole like so many other parts of the midddle east. In unity with Israel and the civilized world, you have a chance at peace and a real future. Time is running out and I fear too many of you are choosing the wrong side.

How can we survive as one when the contributers of this blog even can't. Come on people, get yourselves together. We all love our Lebanon and we all need to unite together...

Everyone's opinion is surely not representitive of all the contributors, and that is why each poster's name is assigned to their post and comments are enabled for those who either agree or disagree.

Please people, don't forget, the one thing that unites us all is our love for Lebanon. Let's not turn this love into hate towards one another.

Come on!

Honestly, there is no point in arguing with those who choose to unite with Hezballah. Whether they unite or not, Hezballah will be defeated. The only difference is, casualties will be greater with the more that unite. Hezballah is a lost cause at this point. They can barely continue to hit Israeli cities as it is, and the more unite, the easier it will be for Israel to allow themselves to hit from the air harder, dropping heavier bombs with heavier death tolls.

In all honesty at this point if you feel Hezballah is the right path, then go for it, it won't make a difference, and Israel's army will crush them whether you join or not. It's not exactly a hard decision one to make here, Allah will not save anyone who is on Hezballa's side, and if you think this is incorrect then I wish you the best of luck. Because Allah has not been helping the arabs defeat Israel and take control of Israel for decades now. And in this day and age, with Israel's advanced military power compared to Hezballah's inaccurate and minor fire power, that is not going to change.

For all the nay sayers, no one is telling you to stop believing in Allah, blah blah. I don't care what people's religious affiliation is, because in reality it is a bunch of bologna. The fact of the matter is, in a time of war, it's almost comical to think that god will save you when you put yourself in harm's way.

Warning Strong Pictures

These are the pictures you will see, only, in Lebanese newspapers tomorrow. yes, too strong & maybe non-postable for ethical reasons, but what is going on in Lebanon has gone beyond any ethics in any worldwide dictionary. This is what the Israeli raids are doing to my country, to my people. This is what they will keep on doing, under the pretext of "self-defense". Those are the terrorists who scared Ehud Olmert. A moment of silence, a prayer and a call for all those who care still about humanity to wake up!!
