Wages in Lebanon

Fellow bloggers,

Recently i have been giving the salary issue a lot of thoughts, and i couldn't really determine what is the optimal salary for someone living in Lebanon and working on full time basis (someone with proper educational level ofcourse)! I would really appreciate it if you could provide me with numbers and opinions.

And in order to compare with other countries, i would like to know from bloggers living outside Lebanon, what would be the optimal salary which convince them to get back here (assuming it's only a matter of salary, and holding everything else constant)!

$3000 for me to survive the month, in a stable company, in a stable country, is what would get me to consider to return to Lebanon. All I am asking for is the capability to survive... not looking for a great lifestyle.

3000 is not just for surviving, 1500 in Lebanon is actually very good. 3000 bit sir luxury.

3am be2na3ik rampurple la teje :P la2anno 3000 unless it's a multinational thing, is not much of a possible salary.

I would be OK with $1000/month. Here, I make $2500 in average after taxes, bass we have much more bills here that take a big shunk of this amount; iza rent alone in $1000.

for a single guy, who wants to rent an appartement for him, have a car, have fun and do the occasional traveling, that all university educated people in normal countries can do. I expect $1800 to $2000..but as a computer scientists...that's around $1000 approx too much :P...
now if you get married..it would be less..$1500 would be enough. Rent would be shared.

a Resident doctor at AUH is paid 700$/month, at SGH 600$!!! (that's includes 100 working hrs/week) Same position in US is paid 6000$/months, UK 4500$/months. You do the math....

funny that when i was intern at AUH salary was also 700$ in 2001

But for the sake of accuracy I am a resident in the US now and the salary is 3000/month, not 6000$

the big jump is after u graduate as a doctor fresh out of residency u will get on average 9000/month +- 2000, depending on specialty

Every time I visit lebanon wich is often like every month I ponder this question, I am trying to figure out a way to get a business going in lebanon, as to keep me a little busy, and to make income for 3-5 employees and a little to myself. I need 3-5 excelent mathmatecians/computer programers,if a doctor is comanding 700 dollars/month what does a mathmatician comand.
I feel really bad when my lunch or dinner costs as much as my girlfreind makes in a month, which is 300-500 dollars/month as a beutician does this sound write the difference between a beutician and a doctor only 200$.

well let me help you a bit: a bac +3 (BA/BS) is worth 400-600 $, Bac + 5 9Masters) is worth 700 - 900$. on the other hand you have:
50$ cell + 250$ car loan (at least)+ 150$ Gaz + 250$ on fun= 700$ that is if you live and eat at your parents house, else u will have to add 300-400$ rent or house loan, 200$ for food, then electricity, 2chtirak, water, satelite, internet ...
so i guess 1800$ is a good number
