Chemical Weapons used against Lebanon
U.S. military intelligence sources have told WMR that the artillery shell shown below being used by an Israel Defense Force member in Lebanon, is a type of dual and multi-use weapon the neocons falsely accused Saddam Hussein of possessing. Although the canister artillery shell is marketed as an anti-land mine fuel-air bomb, its payload can also include the chemicals used in thermobaric bombs, white phosphorous weapons, and chemical weapons. Thermobaric bombs contain polymer-bonded explosives or solid fuel-air explosives in their payloads. Thermobarics use a fuse munition unit (FMU) such as that seen on the nose of the Israeli artillery shell. The shell penetrates buildings, underground shelters, or tunnels, creating such a blast pressure that all the oxygen is sucked out from the spaces and the lungs of anyone who happens to be in proximity. Israel's use of such "vacuum" weapons has been reported from across Lebanon.
The artillery shell below, with its FMU penetrator, can also be used to deliver chemical weapons, the use of which is also being reported from southern Lebanon. In addition, it can deliver white phosphorous, a substance that literally melts through skin but leaves clothing relatively intact. In Fallujah and elsewhere in Iraq, U.S. forces have used white phosphorous on civilians, leaving grotesque corpses as a psychological warfare reminder to the civilian population to surrender or evacuate an area. The photo from Sidon of a burnt and badly disfigured young Lebanese girl is a telltale sign of white phosphorous use by the Israelis. Similar photos from Fallujah were shown to this editor by a top investigative reporter for Italy's RAI television network.
U.S. military intelligence experts believe the ease at which the Israeli soldier is handling the artillery shell is an indication that the payload contains light-weight gas and not a fuel-air mixture or thermobaric bomb components. WMR continues to receive reports from Lebanon of depleted uranium shells being used by the Israelis. The New York Times today is reporting that the U.S. is stepping up its delivery of "precision-guided" munitions to Israel (see article [at website] on Bush administration pre-planning for the Israeli invasions of Lebanon and Gaza).

Explosives tend to burn things regardless of whether they have phosphorus or not, moron.
How pathetic that your Jew-hatred has compelled you to enlisting kook websites like Waynemadsenreport as sources.
I have to agree with sc.
arch.memory should just refine his post down to one phrase: "death to the infadel death to the zionist entity". That would save us 20 seconds of having to read his moronic drivel that essentially says the same thing as that one short phrase.
moron 1 and moron 2, stop convincing us, we already knew how pathetic & racist you are since day 1.
The idea that Israel is using chemical weapons is ludicrous. Regular bombs burn people as well.
And considering that Hezbollah is hiding in bunkers and tunnels, why wouldn't Israel be using munitions designed to penetrate bunkers and tunnels??
can the israelis spammers above please fuck off this blog? are you so cynical that you're incapable of seeing the suffering israel is inflicting on INNOCENT PEOPLE??
Can you socialists and muslim apes slit your wrists and DIE?
SC - seriously, what's wrong with you???
akiva m,
don't waste ur time..
we didn't intrioduce to you "sc" and "death to al" and "beeftsu"..?
then welcome to the circus.
US forces used a huge fuel air bomb on bora bora (Al Qaeda bunker in Afganistan).
You have to use awesomely powerful weapons to penetrate reinforced bunkers.
White phosphorous is legitimately used to create smoke screens. The army claims that that's why they use it. Even when used properly, it may kill a few people who react badly to the smoke.
To sc, beeftsu and akiva m : tomorrow your Tel Aviv has a date with Hezbollah weapons so go and find gaps to hide in and SHUT UP for good.
Zionist and hitlersit styles!
You know what guys...I'm all the way in Australia but I have come to one conclusion.
The middle east will never see peace because there is so much hatred. This hatred is bone deep- even if Israel goes back into it's borders, gives the Palestians their land, gives the Arab world what they want (other than dying off and leaving), The Arab world will still find reasons to hate them because they are Jewish.
If it's not one thing, it will be the other.
I'm so glad I live far far far away in Australia and not so close to so much hatred.
Give it a bloody (literally) rest from both sides is what I say.
Enough.
BTW I'm a Christian and all I want is peace - that's not too much to ask for.
Is it? Probably since I'm the Infidel and the Muslims want me dead. *sigh*
A sad truth I would like to see any of you deny:
If Arabs had no weapons, there would be no war.
If Israelis had no weapons, there would be no Israel!
Well - looks to me that you are completly blinded by Propaganda
Some people refuse to believe the hideous Israeli mind set they are such a bunch of paranoid schizophrenics when it comes to the destruction of others.
They care less what they use, how they use it or who it kills. The only people who can defend their action is other jews who can not admit that they are wrong.
They have bitten off much more than they can chew this time and will rue the day they ever set foot in Lebanon. Thee people killed will come back in the bodies of the children of the survivors and haunt Israel forever, and so they should. Israel has brought all this death and destruction upon the people of the mid east and they will suffer the same consequences ten fold for their actions.
Hatred always stems from something. In this case it was the British taking over and giving Israel the lands of the Palestinians in the 40's, then to compound things the Israelis tried to annex even more land and keep the Palestinians a s a bunch of second class citizens. Give them all the rights they need and the respect they deserve. Arabs have accepted that Israel as country is here to stay but they dont need to keep sucking up every inch of land that the Palestinians still are trying to exist on.
Hilal - I've become acquainted with SC and DTA since I've been reading these forums. The same way I demand that the Lebanese stand up and scream their outrage at Hezbollah for deliberately killing civillians, rational supporters of Israel must stand up and scream their outrage at the racist assholes who also support Israel. I would be a hypocrite to do otherwise.
Assaad - it's attitudes like yours that are responsible for this war. Will you smile to see Tel Aviv hit? Do you smile to see rockets landing on Haifa? Did you smile when you heard two children were killed by rockets in Israel - until, like Nasrallah, you realized they weren't Jewish (which made their death a tragedy instead of a victory)? If so, you are a hypocrite and a worthless human being.
Pegasus - "then to compound things the Israelis tried to annex even more land and keep the Palestinians a s a bunch of second class citizens. Give them all the rights they need and the respect they deserve" . . . are you serious?
How many rights do Palestinians have in arab countries?
Ok, I have a military background, specifically in mechanized armor. I would first like to point out that there is no way this is an artillery shell. I don’t who you spoke with at the "US military intelligence sources" but judging from the shape and flimsy stabilizer fins, it looks like some kind of antiquated airborne gravity munition also known as dumb bombs. Note the tip of the munition looks like some kind of external pressure detonator of which an artillery shell would have no use for. Most shells do have detonators but they are internal, not external. A pressure detonator as seen in the picture would normally be used to ensure the munition detonates upon impact when dropped from airborne platforms. Although this is pretty much outdated technology (used mostly in WW2 – I might be wrong about the modernity of this technology as I have little background in airborne munitions. Although I can’t see a modern military using this kind of munition even to drop out of planes – most modern air forces use some kind of guided munitions in order to minimize collateral damage). Furthermore, most standard artillery shells look a lot like bullets. This is in order to minimize drag on the projectile in-flight and to increase the range. Additionally, any kind of stabilizer fins would only be used in high velocity armor piercing shells. The AP shell is far too small to carry any kind of chemical payload and looks more like an arrow rather then a steel drum. Even an incendiary phosphorus projectile is bullet shaped and has no stabilizing fins. As far as I know there is no ground based delivery system for that kind of ordnance. Another thing which leads me to believe this picture was originally doctored is the vehicle that the solider is 'loading' the shell into is an Armored Personal Carrier (APC) which has little offensive capabilities. Here is some basic information regarding munitions.
