Strait to the point!

I have been saying this for a long time but some do not or choose not to listen: “Argue the post itself, its ideas, logic and rational; not the person!”

Unfortunalty, some people cannot but attack posters personally. And before they jump me here is a sample of their attacks, in the words of Hashem “The new comers are really "shi besharref. de3ano hal LBF”

On behalf of all newcomers I offer my thanks to Hashem and ask him to keep up his good work. And I would like to inform him that LBF has never been better it is more diverse and more lively, so thank you Hashem but no thanks!

Meanwhile, Hisham what you think of my posts and what I am trying to sound like, is really the last of my worries. You want to discuss my ideas, argue them, refute them then you are most welcome, anything else I will just ignore. And let me just tell you this, at least I am trying to write, to express my views, engage in dialogue and argue. While all what you do is attack people and write silly comments like the one you made in my latest post.

I think these sorts of comments from both you and Hashem are not even worth addressing and before taking a holier than thou position it would be best to look at how you treat others and most of all how much you respect them.

So on behalf of LBF (although I am not an administrator) I warmly welcome all new comers and encourage them to express all their views, political or otherwise, in the manner they like, no matter to what party/faction/movement/stance/neutrality they adhere to.

You are most welcome guys, and do not mind any derogatory comments from anyone and I would even ask you to respect those who made them even if they do not respect you…

PEACE

If he thinks the place is so bahdaleh, I'm confused why he's so far accepted to be a contributor? how much has he fulfilled his part as one? I haven't been commenting much as I'm not a blogger myself, but I'll take this opportunity to say great blog you guys. don't let anyone hold you back.

me treating others?
you're saying this to me, Bob?
On your next meeting, just ask more than half the lebanese bloggers, and they'll tell u who is Hashem, and how I treat people.
ya 3ayb elshoum ya Bob.

yes you Hashem

When you say this "The new comers are really "shi besharref. de3ano hal LBF"

lumping three or four guys togther, which u do not even know, and you immediatly judge them and disrespect them?

what do u call that? Respect? treating people in a good manner? what would half the lebanese bloggers say when they will read this?

Finally I m tempted to respond to your "aybe el shoum" but yalla it doesn't matter...

"I warmly welcome all new comers and encourage them to express all their views, political or otherwise, in the manner they like, no matter to what".

I remember, a couple of years ago, when the Daily Star published articles written by college students and how much that got on my nerves and how much that lowered my perception of the publication (there were a few good stuff, but A LOT of crap too that did not meet journalistic standards).

The reason I bring this up is because I can totally see how Hashem could have expectations of writing standards from the contributors to this blog.

So, while the expression of all sides of the spectrum is essential, it does not mean one cannot care about the quality of what is written.

Just my two cents. I don't think that comment by Hashem was worth such strong reactions.

yeah but callipyge with BOB you always get a strong reaction. sort of a hightened sense of self really. it was amusing to mess with his sensiblity at first but this is a new low even to BOB's standards.

thx mirvat you are always welcome. Another example of how a discussion can hit "a new low"

Now callipyge
I think only Hashem can tell us wheter he was conserned by quality or something else. But in both cases his comment was wrong and abusive. he generalized and accused several people without even taking time to discuss or argue with them...

And frankly before offering your judgment did you read the article in question and did you read other stuff written by the assumed culprits? Have you had any discussion with them?
Judgments are so easy to make these days.

What I will never understand is the insistence of some people to attack personally!

So ya mirvat if you are so amusing to mess with my sensibilities, then I m happy to provide amusement but know that in the end it only reflect your own sense of self and respect!

Peace

Yup, I did do my homework and read all the things pertaining to this stupid little debate before offering my judgement.

And so what if someone attacks anyone personally? Are we still at the age where we have to run to the teacher and cry about it because we're defenseless? If someone were to make an unwarranted attack against my personality, I would be perfectly capable of defending myself and writing something that would make the "attacker" look stupid and irrelevant.

All I know is that when people start caring more about forum politics than anything else, well, I won't finish my sentence but you can try to guess how it ends.

I wish we could be arguing about what makes LBF blog posts relevant vs. what doesnt.
Seriously.
I've been following this forum since the very beginning; I've stuck around through stupid and smart times.
Buf if someone were to log on for the first time right now and see all this bickering and "office politics" crap; I'm not sure they'd take the site seriously or show up a second time.

Bob,
I think you're the last person to talk about personal attacks. As I recall, you're the one who invented the phrase: "I won't answer you since you're not worth that" or the sort of. This is the Bob's low standard that Mirvat was hinting at.
Now, if my comment wasn't about the quality of the forum, what was it about? You said I don't know most of them, and I didn't address any of the political ideas.....
My comment was just protesting how this forum turned into an ugly place for loud, low, and endless political debates, with an atmosphere of tension and ill-feelings. That's the feeling I and many of fellow bloggers started to get coming here, and this really saddened me to see this forum that at one time was a tool for us to defend oyur country against the Israeli invasion last summer, turn in such a low and annoying place.

Calipyge- the reaction you saw here compares nothing to the one I got in my email from that administrator, who openly said that if I don't like lbf as it is, I shouldn't be on the contributors' list. While my comments aimed at improving the forum, I got to be shown the door, something that was so hurting and shamful to hear. It's either we accept what we have in this forum, or we leave.
I thank you, Mirvat, and all friends here for their support, but I unfortunately cannot stay here. Not after what I heard in Eve's email.
take care all.

Hashem

I personally attacked you? When , and where?

Now if you are referring to my response it is usually made in answer to a personal insult or attack!( and the "worth it" part usulay mean the comment or insult not the person!) Maybe you prefer that I answer insults with insults, but I do not!

But still bring me the quote, where you felt insulted and if i was out of line and my response was not called for i will apologize!

I have made mistakes and being human, I m sure I will make many more, but I have always apologized for them!

So at least bring the quote IN CONTEXT when you felt i was insulting you and i will be more than happy to offer my apology.

Meanwhile i have not heard you say anything about your ugly comment, and if you forgot it here it is, “The new comers are really "shi besharref. de3ano hal LBF” and mind you it was not only about LBF and you can twist what you said any way you can but I will still consider it as a direct, ugly personal attack even an insult on several members you have not even took the time to discuss and argue with!!!

Now your probelm with Eve is something else and knowing her i totaly trust that she never went out of line and she was very proper in all what she said!

Hashem

u tried to keep the administrator anonymous???
what about this "Not after what I heard in Eve's email."
just after you speak about the administrator letter????

Calipyge,

i do not understand, you are in favor of personnel attacks??
and who went to the teacher crying?

i cant believe this! it is as if you are encouraging people to attack each other!
All i m trying to do is keep the comemnts about the content not the persons. But no!!! We want to indulge in personnel attacks and woe to anyone if he tries to bring some order...

peace

haha
ya Bob.
Please learn how to read between the lines. If more people knew how to, this place would be less messy.

I never said people should start attacking each other. But I find this office politics so darn annoying and it is getting closer to preschool politics by the second.
The country is going up in flames and all you guys can talk about is "he said/she said" things?
I don't care who's right or who's wrong at this point, but the longer this keeps going, the more this blog is going to turn into a parody of itself.

glad i made you laugh
but you are ignoring the fact that personnal attacks are a problem that we need to solve!

now reading btw the lines is all good and dandy but it does not work everytime and it spreads confusion...

not a very effcient strategy do not you think...

Bob,
this comment was after Eve made herself known in a comment on my post. She broke the anonymytity herself.
You know what....after all these attacks and the deliberate attempts to make me look not saying the truth, I'm taking this to the "lebanesebloggers" group, and let the bloggers decide on things.

hashem

i m sorry but in your previous comment in the first part of the comment you used anonimity and then inthe last part you said eve name!

so it is my mistake if i understood wrong but this is how it looked.
and believe me there is no deliberat or veiled attempts to make you look anything.

i made all this fuss because you said this "shi besharref. de3ano hal LBF”

and untill now you did not explain yourself about this!!! and only this! and of course there is hisham's comment but that is a different issue...
