Bein el-ard wil sama

   

I was browsing the archives of Public Radio International's The World for music (their Global Hit segment is one of the best sources of world music on radio) when I came across 2 segments about music from Lebanon that I must have missed. One was from the days of this summer's war, about Fayrouz; the other, earlier, about Haifa's efforts to raise awareness about AIDS. As commendable as Haifa's efforts are, the juxtaposition couldn't have been any more loaded!
