The Media & The Aounists

I don't think I need to get into details of this story... the pictures on the following links can easily tell you the story.

http://www.e46toronto.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=4069 (this was posted november 2005 and notice the license plate...north carolina)

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/02/07/bmw_auction/ (this was posted February 2006 and pictures were made to look like it was in Ireland)

http://www.tayyar.org/tayyar/articles.php?article_id=10991&type=news (this was posted a couple of days ago... same pictures as the previous ones and the following is an official statement http://www.10452lccc.com/fpm.canada/fpm.bayan10.3.06.htm)

Now the question is ... would you trust Aoun as a President? Would you even trust him to own some sort of media... such at the TV station he is planning on opening? Lie, lies, lies...

Thanks 3ajib

Great post, this is hilarious. At least Tayyar has a sense of humor. I love the details: somewhere in a Canadian province, 2 guys that used to be in an un-named student org. in lebanon, 2 incidents already this month, the local are horrified... great stuff. They should start a supermarket tabloid. I say an alien from outerspace dressed as Elvis did it.

What a wicked web we weave when we first practice to deceive! Good catch on this blatant propoganda!

I really think you or someone should email this blog and information gathered here to media outlets in Lebanon and let them expose this pathetic attempt at sowing conflict. The "victims" are actually teh victimizers.

I think that it is important that such deception be exposed and not just against the FPM but for any party that would resort to such low tactics.

I would also suggest that you save the web page just in case they remove the link out of fear that this will expose them.

Someone please follow up on this! There needs to be a watchdog to catch false information posted in blogs and on political websites.

Let's not get carried away here. Mistakes do happen. The crew of Tayyar.org received this information from what they thought was a trusted source in Canada and rushed to publish it without verifying the info. While tayyar.org bears the responsibility to rectify this issue, other parties have done much worse, intentional fabrication of stories of FPM MPs traveling to Syria published in widely read newspapers (which they were later sued for by FPM) or, as a false show of popularity, several parties claiming that their lists won university elections that didn't even happen in the first place. I leave this to you to judge, which mistake outweighs the other.

Rampurple said: Now the question is ... would you trust Aoun as a President? Would you even trust him to own some sort of media... such at the TV station he is planning on opening? Lie, lies, lies...

Throwing this on the back of Aoun is silly. What media does FPM have? They've been working day and night to get some radio time and only two days back did they manage to start broadcasting hourly newscasts on Sawt-el-Ghad. With all the lies that have been propagated for months by LBC/Future TV/ Al-Mustaqbal tabloid among others, all owned by members/supporters of the current government, how come you never questioned their "Lies, lies, lies..." or is anti-Aounism more fashionable nowadays?

At Saturday, March 11, 2006 3:36:00 PM, Blogger Rampurple said...

leblob... if you ever read my blog you would notice that I do question other politicians lies and/or intentions.

It is true that the FPM do not have media at the moment but Orange TV is coming up. Is this how they would be working on Orange TV as well?

Once again, I am not defending others, but my point was that the FPM represented by Aoun are just as bad as any other political party today. I am not convinced and that's that. Therefore, in my opinion, no it's not silly to throw this back on Aoun. Also, what I wish is fashionable nowadays is not to follow names... have those names follow you.

There is something I find striking! Every time i have an argument with an Aounist he says: yes we did that but look at the others and see what they have done!!!
I do not care what the others have done. They are a bunch of Lebanese politicians that only care for their own interests, they lie deceive and do whatever they need to forward their own interests. However, the FPM has always considered itself (and Aoun at most of all) as beyond any criticism. In short holier than thou. So please no more comparison and no more defending them beyond reason. Just say they are as bad as everybody else and they made and make and will make mistakes. And I will be satisfied! Remember THEY ARE NO BETTER THAN ANYBODY ELSE, they lie, they deceive and most of all they are continuing the same great Lebanese tradition of nepotism in FPM, just like the rest (So I do not get a thousand response saying look at Future Movement look at Joumblatt…) One more thing, you know Aoun still have not apologized for the war and its horrors, some might say it is only an apology but for me it is very important. (Surprisingly the two who did are Joumblatt – La bete noire of the Aounist- and Geagea…)

Your apologist theory about "what they thought was a trusted source" is interesting.

So do you agree that COLCO/FPM Canada is not to be trusted?

Or do you have another apologist theory?

I have to disagree with your argument. If the trusted source is someone within the FPM that forwarded this to tayyar.org that means they are purposely planting this story to stir emotions within FPM members through the tayyar.org media outlet.

You cannot excuse such deception, intentional or not. The "trusted" source is preying on the emotions of the FPM audience to illicit a strong response. Simply put these are the same principles of deceitful propoganda that were pioneered by Goering in Nazi Germany. MIND YOU I AM NOT COMPARING ANYONE TO THE NAZIS, but rather the principles of propoganda which have such a horrid history.

My academic background is in Communication and I specialized in Persuasion. Nothing is more disconcerting than organizations and people with influence (ethos) coerce their audience by using such methods.

Beyond the politics of Lebanon, it is up to responsible citizens like Rampurple and others to catch and expose such methods. For when the audience is aware of a deception then they have choice to accept or reject an argument on its merits.

Great blog Rampurple and to all the other contributors, keep up the good work.

this post by ramp brightened my day. and Leblob, please dont give excuses, just take the criticism, bite on it, enjoy it and go tell FPM that they need to test what they post.

They are trying anything to show that they are victimized and they cant have their own media, Id love to see this peace of news on their TV station when they get one. I'd love to see more of the same quality of news.

Reminds of the news during the last election when they claimed that saad hariri distributed 3000 free tractors in akkar to win the elections. I mean 3000 tractors in akkar, that will be such a scene, I expect everyone to stop drivign cars with 3000 tractors on the road. They can tie trailers to them and use them as buses, they can sell their cars and roam in tractors all aroud akkar.
The funny thing, in my last trip to akkar I couldnt see one, I think he must have built them also a free parking underground to hide the 3000 tractors.

with the following explanation offered by the tayyar canada:

The comments on tayyarcanada.org are just classic reactionary spin to a ploy gone back.

The strategy here is to claim ignorance, find a scapegoat and hope no one can prove it was done intentionally and strategically.

We used to do this in the Public Relations industry all the time...one of the reasons I left the field.

Aoun spent 15 years in France for himself not for Lebanon. He basically ran away, so I don't get the good thing about that. We all know and remember how he said he will die in baabda and fighting but instead was the first to run away. I still don't get how a coward become a hero!!
And please don't even come close to telling me he was tricked to go to the embassy, I know who took him to the embassy that day and what he told them when he left them.

The fact that his wife and daughters are still with him is testimony enough. At least one would have "expressed anger" if he "left" them behind.
The tayyar does not need this propaganda, or to create stories. Jumblatt is doing enough, and the history and current actions of the rest of the so-called 14 March alliance helps the tayyar in that. And for the writer of this posting to suggest that this is the way to judge whether Aoun is fit for presidency is lame, I am sure he is not spending his time editing or verifying every story that gets on the tayyar website.
I think the propaganda of the tayyar is there by just comparing them to the group of people including the likes of Jumblatt and Geagea and Gemayel, etc... It is too bad that Harriri is in that camp.

Brazilian federal police arrested Rana Abdel Rahim Koleilat, 39, Sunday evening at the Parthenon Accor Hotel in Sao Paolo- see link below:

You may remember that, back in the roaring 1990’s, Ms Koleilat was a Lebanese Mata-Hari of sorts allegedly working for various Middle-Eastern intelligence agencies.

Knowledgeable people say she had (concomitant!) love affairs with numerous Lebanese and Saudi politicians: she’s wanted by the Lebanese ministry of justice in conjunction with the “Bank Al-Madinah Scandal”, a political-financial scandal of Gargantuan proportions involving the Hariri clan and their generous Saudi backers.

Rafic Al-Hariri and King Fahd Ibn Saud are said to have used Bank Al-Madinah throughout the 1990’s as a legit financial front behind which they concealed massive money laundering and political corruption activities notably discreet cash transfers to diverse causes such as the Bush-Cheney 2000 campaign, the fundamentalist Taleban regime of Afghanistan, as well as covert funding of the anti-Asad wing of the Syrian regime led by former Vice-President A.H. Khaddam and Gen. Ghazi Kanaan…

Anyhoo, it seems this corrupt chick has finally come to roost: I hope she’ll spill the beans on the Hariri-Kanaan-Khaddam mafia triumvirate that ruled and pillaged Lebanon from 1990 to 2004

I’m starting to like “Al-Haqeeqah”!!

1. I dont care about Aouns past or anyone elses
2. I dont care about Aouns personal life
3. I do not wish to compare the politicians to each other.
4. I strongly disapprove of Aoun or Geagea or Franjieh or any of the warlords .. hence our past in becoming Lebanon's President... hence our future.

Dr Victorino: Are you Najah Wakeem ??

You both have this anti Hariri thing which is ammazing, I mean do you sleep without thinking of how to attach his name to anything that is scandalous and bad?

What amuzes me more is that you spend your time writing about it in almost ever possible blog.

There is one about the spring season effect on the bird flu with the migration of birds over turkey and the feathers falling over mount ararat that can accelerate the melting of snow which can lead to floods. Can you add King Fahed, and Hariri to it in a good scenerio?

I agree with Rampurple, you are all taking this out of hand. This discussion is not about Aoun and how fit he is for presidency or even about the FPM as an organization.

This is about propoganda and that someone caught an attempt at it. It doesn't matter at what level this was thought up, but that it was caught and it will make people think twice before they try such things.

I agree that the media whether it is by Tayyar or any other entity should not be taken by face value. I was disapointed by the tayyar website for not checking their sources better, but that is in no way a reflection as to whether Aoun is fit for presidency. And in no way a reflection of the honesty of the Tayyar crew, mistakes do happen you know...

That is not the first time FPM revert to such tactics...

I will name some here:
1 - what I like to call Sandikly Gate:
Afif Al Sandikly....

Is a Lebanese Army intelligence person whom GMA dressed him up as a Sheikh during the Baabda demonstrations.

This was done just to show that he is not sectarian, if he really wasn’t sectarian, he wouldn’t have reverted to such low propaganda techniques....

He disgraced the Religion when he portrayed one of his intelligence persons as a Sheikh

2 - Bassil's Maid:
FPM released the following statement:
قتحم ملثم ظهر اليوم منزل المهندس جبران باسيل في البترون وأقدم على تهديد الخادمة التي كانت بمفردها داخل المنزل بسكين وضعه على رقبتها طالباً منها ابلاغ المهندس باسيل الذي صودف وجوده خارجه بأنه سيكون الضحية اللاحقة للشهيد النائب جبران تويني

it turned out to be false

3 - Aoun Assasination attempt on his return.

as said by abou balad on one forum:
when Aoun arrived to Lebanon, May 7th 2005, 2 guys tried to assassinate him at the airport. At least this is what the media said, started by the ANB television channel.

The “3askar” arrested them immediately and a lot of sensational emotions and propaganda were done about them at Tayyar.org and other media… But no-one has ever heard about them since that time!! And at the same time, Aoun and his movement forgot them and abstained from asking any punishment for them!! They didn’t even say one word about them since that time!!!

They said that the guys are from Moukhabarat, Lebanese and Syrians...
But why then everyone shut up after the scoop took its emotional effect?

I guess the whole thing was a theatre organized between the Moukhabarat and Aoun in order to give him a “push” in boosting his popularity and then implementing the deal of splitting March-14.

This is the only explanation I can see… If somebody else has another explanation please give it and don’t attack me… Giving a logic explanation helps you better…Or may be there is information I missed?? If so please hint.

4 - Claims that the February female Martyr was NOT going to the demonstration:
we all remember how Bassil went on TV and claimed that there were no mazout on the streets, and that the woman was going to work; he also claimed that she is a close friend of his .... her family denied what Bassil said, and they confirmed she was going to the demo

can any one add more:-)
