Converation with Dad

This post was writtn by the lebanese blogger JIJ. We took his permission to post it here.
****
Me: Hi dad.
Dad: Hi son. How are you?
Me: Good… Did they just hit Manara?
Dad: Yeah, half an hour ago.
Silence
Me: That’s five minutes from home
Dad: Yeah, more or less
Me: That’s bad
Dad: It’s ok… I was walking there early in the morning
Me: You were walking there?
Dad: Yeah.
Me: Ok… So how is everything?
Dad: Good. We’re watching TV all day long. They’re reporting massive resignations from the Democratic Left after the Israeli ambassador quoted Atallah
We both laugh
Dad: You didn’t hear Nasrallah’s speech yesterday, did you?
Me: No, but I read it later
Dad: You should have seen it. You know, when he asked people to look at the seaside and watch the Israeli ship sinking?
Me: Yeah?
Dad: I could hear shouts of victory from many houses in the neighborhood. It was like some movie.
Silence
Dad: Did you start eating the food you brought back?
Me: Yeah. I did. Where’s mom?
Dad: She’s taking a walk in AUB.
I think of protesting, but I don’t.
Me: Well, ok. Tell her I said hi.Dad: Sure son.
Me: Ok I’ll go now.
Dad: Ok
Me: Dad?
Dad: Yeah?
Me: Can you not walk on the corniche tomorrow morning?
silence
Dad: Yeah, ok. We'll see.
Me: Ok, I'll call tomorrow, bye
Dad: Bye

Long live Lebanon.

Shouts of victory, eh? Some people are more delusional than I could have ever imagined.

If this is a victory, I'd hate to witness your defeat. How sad....

And now I see the censorship of the truth begins. The comments have all been removed from the post with the pictures of the dead Lebanese.

jij, I guess you must be a supporter of Hezballah then? Is that correct?

How cowardly to remove the comments on that post. Should we come post some pictures of the dead Israelis from Hezballah rockets?

Show some intellectual honesty and leave all of the comments open. Anything less is to admit the sad state of your logical position.

jij, it must be nice enjoying the safety of the US right about now.

I wish nothing but the best for your family. I only point out that you are siding with the losers in this battle.

Hezballah has sold you out in a diversionary tactic to protect Iran from World Opinion and distract the leaders at the G8, and you cheer as their crony points out the only hit they have scored while the rest of your nation falls apart.

That is truly sad.

dear non-lebanese-non-israeli-yeah-right pal, a moment of silence is when u seal ur mouth and stop uttering words. so my advice to you is to do as jij said, coz this is the one time somebody will bother replying to you.

The post says: This is what the Israeli raids are doing to my country, to my people. This is what they will keep on doing, under the pretext of "self-defense". Those are the terrorists who scared Ehud Olmert.

Do you really think Israel would have bombed anyone if they hadn't been dealing with the aggression from Hezballah to begin with? The rockets that have been killing Israelis for years? The Israeli people want peace and quiet just like the Lebanese people do. It is Hezballah and Hamas that won't allow that to happen.

Do you really think that Israel targets little girls on purpose? If so then you're even more delusional than your "cries for victory" would have lead me to believe.

Olga said: "It doesn’t matter who is right and who is wrong for this little girl."

It's the next little girl I'm worried about, Olga. All the little girls in Lebanon who are still alive. Who is right and who is wrong is very important for all the little girls still alive. And if the Lebanese continue to blindly blame Israel for their woe, when it is really the fault of the vile Hezballah, then God save all the little girls of Lebanon.

When Hezballah is defeated, the little girls of Lebanon will no longer be cannon fodder for Syria and Iran.

Amen to that, magburner. Hezballah must go or Lebanon will never have peace.

Jij,

I live in Manara. Your family is safe. I'm leaving because I can't get any work done and because I'm being pressured to by friends. My family is fine with whatever decision I make. That's the hardest decision to face.

this does not have to go on any longer.
It is easy to stop from lebanese side.
Just release the soldiers and disarm Hizb.
Every minute of stubborness make more people die and suffer needlessly.
Then pressure would be on israelis to stop.
What use is the katyusha anyway, it makes holes in wall or sidewalks, while Israeli bombs bring down buildings.
There is no balance of terror.
It was all a lie....
