This is not the point...
We will always be the weakest country in the region with no free decision...and Israel will always impose its "watever" on us...or they will bomb us to the dark ages...we are not allowed to have weapons or raise our heads....so if we surrender and be good puppies...then they will let us be!!! very sad!!!
this is too the ARAB situation....30 years since the last ISraeli war...and still we are weak, unable to fight or be respected.

Bob, if peace is desired then the Lebanese government must be stroing enough to destroy Hezballah, or at least contain it and make sure it doesn't attack Israel. Stength is what leads to peace, in many cases. Weakness only invites Iran and Syria to use its' proxy Hezballah to ruin your country..
'Israeli' and 'someone from the other side':
Who said I don't want a central strong government and army? who said I don't want our army deployed along the border?
Many lebanese parties for several months have been negotiating with hizbullah to step down...but hizbulla refused...so a status quo was established...to resume negotiations later.
The lebanese army cannot fight with hizbullah...it would have torn the army and country apart... hizbullah are lebanese too and yes the supporters of hizbullah amount to more than a million.
Hizbullah has been classified as the 3rd power in the region after the israeli and syrian!!!
We as lebanese have been trying to avoid this confrontation with ISrael for the past 2 years...we all saw it coming...however there is nothing we could have done...and neither will israel succeed...it's a CATCH 22 situation.
Second we did free ourselves from syrian occupation and influence...i didn't forget about them...but they aren't bombing us now!!! And soon enough syria will be the one supplying us with bread and oil to withstand the israeli attacks.
"Pride and dignity" stand for being able to defend your country and having an army strong enough to protect air, land and sea.
Did you know that our obsolete lebanese army helicopters are not allowed to have any machine guns on?
Did you know that the lebanese army couldn't get any dignified weapons from USA? We have no anti aircraft or missiles to deter anybody.
Did you know that the israeli warplanes violate our airspace almost daily and that back in the sixties (before hizbulla ever existed) they bombed our airport and all our civilian planes?!
So even though hizbulla has not been dismanteld yet; Israel has already imposed on us the kind of army we are allowed to have!!!!
We're not rallying after hizbullah or their agenda...neither defending them but the Israeli army is NO ANGEL.
We are stuck in the middle of stronger fighting powers...we got a cat to get rid of the mouse..and then a dog to get rid of the cat..and then a tiger to get rid of the dog...and so on...
Finally, we do want a peaceful lebanon free of israeli, iranian, syrian ...whatever influence...and coexisting in peace with our neighbours...unfortunately Israeli have destroyed our country and just created more hatred.
