IF YOU HAVE A BLOG or a WEBSITE, PLEASE POST THIS!

OK, here is the plan. I can't stand here, watching doing nothing. The truth is that we are at the mercy of world leaders. However, I think they should know how we feel. Maya, our fellow blogger from About Lebanon, has drafted a short letter to be sent to all the world leaders that you can think of. She has provided some email addresses. Please feel free to add more emails to your list of leaders. Please forward this email to all your friends, and urge them to send this email to world leaders. The idea is to flood world leader's emails with our plea. They must receive thousands of emails from people all over the world. Please circulate this as much as you can. I will transfer it to all my fellow bloggers and email it to all my family and friends. Please do the same! We must do something.

Dear World Leaders,

This letter is a plea from the Lebanese people, and friends of Lebanon . We urge you to exercise any political influence you may have to guide a cease fire between Israel and Hezbollah. Negotiations must take place. The violence that has escalated in Lebanon has gotten out of control, it is insanity! The people of Lebanon are suffering; the Lebanese economy will suffer deeply for years to come. As I am sure you know anger, resentment, and poverty can only lead to further extremism. For the welfare of Lebanese citizens, Israeli citizens, the stability of the Middle East , and indeed the world, we implore you to take action as soon as possible to prevent further violence, destruction, and casualties.

Sincerely,

Friends and Citizens of Lebanon

Cordialement,

Le peuple du Liban et ses amis

mirco:
Israel can never be trusted....power can only be dealt with power.... Hizbulla is the only group that has and can preserve Lebanese dignity...

Israelis occupied lebanon for 20 years and it was only through the increase in israeli soldiers body count that they left Lebanon; and not the UN resolution that stood as a paper for 20 years.

Who gaurantees that israel will not attack and keep violating our country land, sea and airspace if Hizbullah was no more?

What is happening now is further than the issue of 2 soldiers. It is part of the plot to break Iran, syria and hizbulllah for good. Even if the 2 soldiers weren't kidnapped this was going to happen sooner or later.

Yes, we love our country, yes we want peace...but dignified peace and not surrender. Israel can bring the whole country down...kill thousands...but this will only create more and more resistance...Isn't that the way Hizbullah was created in 1982?!!

The problem with Israel is that they never learn...this vicious cycle of violence has gained Israel nothing since 1982....nothing in Gaza too...

Only When Israelis learn to treat lebanese and palestinians as equals...then there will be peace.

Israelis will retreat cause we Lebanese have the stronger WILL...and we are able to take more punches....it will be painful to us...but so for Israel.

The more ISrael attacks...the weaker the Lebanese government grows...the more the chaos...the stronger Hizbulla and other factions will become in Lebanon. And once there's no more infrastructure to lose...it will be daily hunting season across the Israeli border.....The tension will reach a critical mass that will lead to another Iraq on the israeli border? and will spread to egypt and jordan (whose leaders are trembling of this senario).

So which side am I, mirco?

Sleep tight tonight mirco...cause you may never again.

Achraf, nice effort. But do you think it will make a difference? The international authorities have already chosen to support Israel; What a shame! Kofi Anan goes on TV and days that he denounce the Hizbollah kidnapping of the israely soldiers. They do not consider us to be humans. We are a shit for them. I'm sad, very sad, anxious and extremely worried about the future of Lebanon. IF there is anything guys that we can do, pls advice.Goodnight fellows... :(

Hey here's a thought.

Let's stop the KILLING already and figure out who is the bad guy later?

Cathy, thanks very much!
CML, thanks for contacting your government; safegaurding civilians is better than none.
ElGrande, I totally agree!
Linalone, I'm skeptical, too, but have reached a level of desperation that I'm willing to try anything to stop the madness. Besides, what's the harm? At worst, it'll be ignored; I can live with that. At best, someone else would that wouldn't have otherwise...

Thanks for doing this. I've added a link to my blog.

On the comment thread, I agree with El Grande: Best stop the killing and figure out who the bad guy is later.
