As a dutch-israeli who is pretty left wing, and left Israel disillusioned after army service in Lebanon in 1982, I have still tried to maintain the belief that however misguided Israeli policy has been over the years, it has been driven by fear, pain, and anxiety and not downright inhumanity. The events of the last month up to an including today's news referenced here is making it almost impossible to maintain that illusion. I am so so sorry, and ashamed, my Lebanese friends. It is not my place to apologize and ask forgiveness for my ex-country mates but I dont know what else to do. Except continue to make my voice heard here and in many other similiar forums.

I hope not.
There's nothing like wishful thinking though.
