Gebran Tueni+

Youth of Lebanon!? The choice is yours...
Will his death be just another occasion to light a few candles and shed a few tears?!
Will you let his death go unpunished?!
Will you starve yourselves to death in non-violent protests? Hell no!!

Our throat has lost quite a few vocal chords but we can still scream!
Our hands and legs have been amputed but we can still plant a dagger in anybody's heart!

Tonight, when you are going to gather to light a candle in memory of The Free Word, light it for Pride. Light a candle and let it burn out. Let it melt and burn your fingers until you scream NO MORE! Until you realize it is enough. Then, do not just stand there and wait, react against your darkest fears!
We have lost a Bachir. We have lost a Samir and now we lose a Gebran! Enough!!
Enough standing still, protesting with candles and neon lights.
Organize yourselves. Work clandestinely. Fight for your lives. Because your lives are at stake!
Your privacy is at stake and your dignity is at stake!
Mothers, feed hatred to your children, for it is hatred we need.
Love your country and don't just talk about Paris and 'attayef! You might be shrewd but ineffective!
React now, not before it is too late, but because you have missed your last train home!
React now, because it is high time for a twenty-first century Lebanese Revolution.
React now because war and death are easier than the daily fear eating you alive!

Mothers of Lebanon, your country is in need of a Leader. Raise your Napoleons and your Hitlers now, because it is too late!
