Hizbullah's real goal is racist: To free the Middle East holy lands of Jews
By Alan M. Dershowitz
Sometimes an apology can be quite revealing. Consider the one recently issued by Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hizbullah. He apologized to the families of two Israeli children who were killed by a Hizbullah rocket that hit the Christian holy city of Nazareth. He called them shahids, martyrs, even though they did not choose to die at the hands of Hizbullah terrorists.

The apology was issued not because they were children or innocent bystanders, but because they were Israeli Arabs and not Jews. Hizbullah's rockets are aimed at Jews, and earn cheers whenever they kill a Jewish baby or grandmother. No apologies there.

The so-called Arab-Israeli conflict represents the first instance since the Holocaust that Jews, as Jews, are being specifically targeted by an international organization that seeks recognition as a legitimate power. Hizbullah has threatened to attack Jewish targets outside of Israel as well. And they have proved their willingness to do so, as evidenced by their attack on a Jewish Community Center in Buenos Aires, in 1994, in which they collaborated with Argentine neo-Nazis to murder many Jews, including children.

The collaboration between neo-Nazis and Islamic terrorists to murder Jews should come as no surprise to anyone familiar with the history of the collaboration between the Palestinian leadership and Hitler during World War II.

The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini, who was recognized as the official leader of the Palestinians during this period, was a virulent anti-Semite whose hatred of Jews was both religious and racial. He became a close ally and adviser to Adolf Hitler, and an active supporter of the "final solution," the mass murder of European Jewry. In 1940, he asked the Axis powers to settle the Jewish problem in Palestine in accordance with the "racial interests of the Arabs and along lines similar to those used to solve the Jewish question in Germany." He urged Hitler to extend the final solution to the Jewish refugees who had reached Palestine, and he advised Hitler, in 1943, when it was well known what was happening in Poland's death camps, to send the Jews to "Poland, in order thereby to protect oneself from their menace."

Husseini rejected the two-state solution, arguing that Palestine was part of Syria. He objected to any Jewish state, even one the "size of a postage stamp," on Islamic holy land. He wanted all of the Middle East to become judenrein (free of Jews). Husseini's heir was Yasser Arafat, a cousin who also targeted Jews, through his surrogate terrorist groups. When a young student at the Hebrew University was gunned down while jogging through a mixed neighborhood of Jews and Arabs in north Jerusalem in 2004, the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, a wholly owned subsidiary of Arafat's Fatah movement, joyously claimed credit for killing yet another innocent Jew. When it was later learned that the jogger was a Jerusalem Arab and not a Jew, Al Aqsa quickly apologized to the family, calling it an accident.

This is anti-Semitism, pure and simple. And despite efforts by supporters of Palestinian terrorism to justify the murder of innocent civilians as national liberation or by any other euphemism, these selective apologies prove Islamic terrorists' targeting of Jews is little different in intent from other forms of exterminatory anti-Jewish murders.

And yet Kofi Annan, the secretary- general of the United Nations, Louise Arbour, the high commissioner of human rights at the UN, and many within the European Union are condemning Israel for its reasonable military actions to prevent these racist murders. They insist that there is a moral equivalence between the anti-Semitic targeting of Jews by Hizbullah and the defensive actions directed by Israel at military targets.

Hizbullah's goal is not the "liberation" of Palestine. Its members are not Palestinian. They are Islamic extremists who want to "liberate" all Islamic land, which includes all of Israel proper, including Tel Aviv, from the "crusaders," a term that includes Jews and Christians (even though Jews were among the victims of the Crusades). The fight against Hizbullah is a fight against anti-Jewish, anti- Christian, and humanistic values. If Hizbullah terrorism is not stopped in southern Lebanon, it will be coming to a theater, church, or synagogue near you.

Israel isn't going to magically leave the Middle East and HA cannot erase a nation..it would be too simple to state: we are all neighbors, so for the love of God, let's just learn to live with one another!

true they can not magically dissapear, but leaving open the door by compliance of the lebonese who file under Hezzbolah are in fact assisting the prescription of hate which leads the hate of those factions...yes most of us civilized humans beings all want to get along but, turning a blind eye to reality, is what brought the 10's of thousands of Rockets blasting from inside Lebonon to the streets of Isreal.
Its time to stand up and be counted.

How will the lebonese count themseleves?

if you're going to use dershowitz to argue a point, it implies that you're not here to discuss. at least choose someone who is less of a bigot.

It will be more than worth the first 7 if the last one becomes complete. But I've lost hope. And so the first 7 are in vain

Dershowitz is well-known and very much despized in liberal circles all over the world. He is an example of the worst Zionism has to offer.. Dershowitz is definitely a bigot and supports the use of torture. He is hardly a model of civilization.

They dont have humanitarian values on that list do they. Or kindness and consideration for civilian people all over the middle east. They are just a bunch of ignorant, greedy war mongers that need to be stopped!

In the last week I have read several reports and viewed some on the tube too that show the vast majority of these 'recruits' are guys that have not been in the military for years. many of them are overweight has beens that have absolutely no idea of what they are getting into. Many served their time as prescribed under israeli law patrolling areas of israel while it was relatively peaceful. Now Israel expects these same guys to grab a gun and fight like war hardened soldiers. They are up against a well trained army of hezbollah no matter what you think of Hezbollah as being terrorists or not. They started training way back when israel first invaded their country and are ready for anything Israel can throw at them. Also they have no fear of dying for their cause. On the other hand all the Israeli men have been conscripted into this battle and have wives, family and girlfriends that want them to have no part of it.

When hundreds of these naiveness meet their death at the hand of Hezbollah the Israeli people will be whistling a different tune I think. They have been clamoring for this war because the history of israel always has ben to win bug. This time they are losing big time.

I am so sick and tired of constantly seeing nothing but death and destruction on every news program or article you read. Where are the people who should be making the peace? And dont give me any of that crap about how Hezbollah started this shit. Hezbollah is only continuing what the Israelis started years ago, and to say they are going overboard and overreacting in this situation is a glaring understatement.

They are al a bunch of hot heads in that region and they need to be spanked and sent to bed early until they can act like civilized adults for a change!

US policy seams to be that Israel has a legitimate right to do whatever they want. There will never be peace before US finally understand that the Palestinian issue will remain an ignition source until its solved. However, it can't be soved before they recognize that the Palestinians have ligitimate rights and must be treated with respect. A war is always horific on both sides of a conflict, but since Hezbollah is an organisation and not the ligitimate government of Lebanon, one have to ask of Israel have the right to act the way they have done and continue to do. All but one of the International community says "no", and its no supprise that the one saying yes is US.

As I understand it Hezbollah as well as Hamas wants the destruction of Isreal. They have used suicide bombers and rockets to kill non military targets (women and children included) Where are the people of Isreal to go? They are the ones backed into a wall. To me the kidnapping and murder of the Isreali solders was an act of war. I am very sorry for all the innocent deaths in Lebonon, but to allow a terrorist force to act within it's boarders has brought this destruction down upon them. Wars never seem to go down nicely no matter how well intentioned they might be. As a US citizen I thought that bringing Saddam down from power would free the Iraqi people from his tyranny. I saw the torture and chemical warfare he brought on his own people. I was wrong to think we were doing the right thing. I guess I am also wrong to hope that the Muslim/Islamic/Arabic people can accept the existance of Isreal and get together to help make the world a better place without violence.
