Torture Methods Used At Ministry of Defense (reported by SOLIDA)

Solida Full Report

“Every time i heard someone scream when he was on the Balanco or being electrocuted or I heard the squeak of a door, I woud feel a terrible pain in my stomach. I would shiver. I felt myself at the edge of utter despair trying to shut out the sounds of the screams. Even so I would hear everyone one of them, every electric shock.”
Jihad Sleiman, May 5, 1995

For those who dont know,
Jihad Sleiman was in charge of the security of Dr. Samir Geagea, the leader of the Lebanese Forces and was brought to Ministry of Defence after Hakim was jailed.

It wasn't just the LFers who were tortured or persecuted at the Ministry of Defense.

We have to accept a fact that when it comes to human rights and prisons, we really lack human rights especially on the political front.

Aounists were even imprisoned during from 1990 until 2005, beaten up and treated like crap. I know a Aounist who was taken from his home for 40 days without anyone knowing about his whereabouts. He got beaten up badly and tortured during those 40 days. His family and friends looked all over the place to find him.

The ministry of defense is not even supposed to be a prison, and all other prisons should also not torture their prisoners... yet alone should treat their prisoners right.

Shame on us... Shame on anyone who thinks that this could be justified under any circumstances...

Thanks Rampurple for posting about this topic. More light should be shed on the torture practices against detainees in Lebanon.
